Pipe Light

Architects Triptyque created the art installation Pipe Light on an abandoned house in Sao Paolo. Using metal tubes and lamps, they completely wrapped the inside and the outside of the building. Really cool design using minimal materials.

Christoph Klemmt’s Project Or is a crazy installation at The Milan International Furniture Fair 2008 that reacts to sunlight and just looks pretty. Info from the Designers after the pic:

OR is the boldest installation at the Milan International Furniture Fair 2008, a vortex-shaped surface which reacts to sunlight. The polygonal segments of the surface react to ultra-violet light, mapping the position and intensity of solar rays. When in the shade, the segments of OR are translucent white. However, when hit by sunlight they become coloured, flooding the space below with different hues of light. At night, OR transforms into an enormous ‘chandelier’, disseminating light into the surrounding courtyard, an atmospheric space for events and gatherings.

Guggenheim in Lithuania

Zaha Hadid won the competition to build the new Guggenheim Hermitage Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania. Hopefully it won’t open too much later than planned, though that seems a near-certainty. The renderings of the place look crazy:
